Memorial 5k Run/Walk honors fallen Arizona officers

Their radios may be silent, but the memories of Arizona officers killed in the line of duty will be honored during the 11th Annual Arizona Fallen Officer Memorial 5k Run/Walk.
The community-based run takes place in Downtown Phoenix on Sunday, March 8, and is coordinated by Arizona Concerns of Police Survivors and the Arizona Peace Officers Memorial Board Charity.
All proceeds from the run/walk will benefit the survivors of fallen officers to aid in rebuilding their lives and upkeep of the Arizona state memorial.
The event will remember all Arizona fallen officers. Many teams have been coordinated to participate, including the survivors of eight Arizona officers lost in 2014: Phoenix Police Detective John Hobbs, end of watch (E.O.W.) March 3, 2014; Mesa Police Sergeant Brandon Mendoza, E.O.W. May 12, 2014; Salt River Police Officer Jair Cabrera, E.O.W. May 24, 2014; Border Patrol Agent Alexander Giannini, E.O.W. May 28, 2014; Navajo Division of Public Safety Officer Ernest Montoya, EOW: Nov. 30, 2014; Chandler Police Officer Bryant Holmes, E.O.W. Oct.28, 2014; Chandler Police Officer David Payne, E.O.W. Oct.r 31, 2014; Flagstaff Police Officer Tyler Stewart, E.O.W. Dec. 27, 2014.
Registration starts at 7 a.m., race starts at 8 a.m., conclusion of 5k expected at approximately 10:30 a.m.
The event starts at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza, 1700 W. Washington St., Phoenix.
