Arizona Police & Fire Games Return To The Valley
ARIZONA POLICE/FIRE GAMES RETURN TO THE VALLEY – April, 2015
Thanks to the commitment of POSA and POSA Outreach to create and submit a bid, the Arizona Police/Fire Games will be held in Scottsdale April, 2015! The games have not been in the valley since 2007, and this is an excellent way to show the city that not only are first responders critical to public safety, but are also an immensely powerful economic block. Prior games have involved over a thousand participants and drawn countless vendors, families, and other guests. Another benefit of being the host of the games is that we get to pick a charity that will benefit from money generated by the games and POSA Outreach has been approved to be that The host hotel will be Chaparral Suites, and POSA/POSA Outreach will once again have the support of Dr. David Carfagno, D.O., C.A.Q.S.M, of the Scottsdale Sports Medicine Institute (www.scottsdalesportsmedicine.com), as Medical Director for the games. In addition to being a part of Guns vs. Hoses football and Blades for Badges Hockey in years’ past, Dr. Carfagno also brings experience as the Medical Director for Ironman Arizona, the Medical Director AZ PF Chang’s Rock and Roll Marathon, the Assistant Medical Director Competitor Group Rock and Roll/Tri Rock Series, the Team Physician for USA Boxing and has been named in Phoenix Magazine’s Top Doctors for Sports Medicine in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. While hosting the games will be an unparalleled opportunity to showcase Scottsdale’s first responders, there is a lot of planning, organizing, and facilitating to make this event the success that has become POSA’s reputation. And what we need is to start putting together an organizing committee. The Scottsdale Police Department and POSA will be the host agency, but we will be teaming up with some other agencies to make this a great competition. The games will be April 21-25, 2015 in Scottsdale, so we should start the planning process as soon as possible. Please check out the website www.azpolicegames.com. This will be a 9 month endeavor to coordinate all the events and venues that go into a successful competition. Please join us at the first organizing meeting on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the POSA office. Lunch will be provided, and this will be a great opportunity to learn about the games or email Jim Hill (email@example.com).
