THE CITY OF FLAGSTAFF WILL BE INCREASING ENFORCEMENT OF LOCAL LEASH LAWS

Flagstaff Police Department. (07-07-2015). Over the past month several citizens’ complaints have been received regarding dogs off their leashes in and on the Urban Trail system within the City of Flagstaff, as well as Buffalo Park. Please review the following city code violations:

6-02-001-0001: FAILURE TO CONTROL DOG

Dog at Large: Every person owning or having charge, care, custody or control of any dog of any age shall keep such dog exclusively upon his or her own premises; provided, however, that the dog may be off such premises if it is under the control of a competent person and restrained by a chain, leash, rope or cord of sufficient strength to contain and control such dog.
This offense is a considered a misdemeanor offense, and a violation of this City Code can result in a criminal citation with a fine attached.

The Flagstaff Police Department recognizes Flagstaff to be a dog friendly town. Please be respectful of all persons using the City urban trail system and Buffalo Park and restrain your pets.
